Plant a Row for the Hungry is a national public program launched in 1995 by the Garden Writers of America. As a member of the GWA, we encourage our readers customers, and neighbors to plant an extra row of produce each year and donate their surplus to local food banks, soup kitchens, and service organizations to help feed America’s hungry.
Since 1995, over 14 million pounds of produce providing over 50 million meals have been donated by American gardeners.
Our 11th annual Harvest for Hungry/Plant a Row Food Drive is Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 10 am to 5 pm. Please drop off a small about of harvest/produce from your vegetable garden in paper bags or cardboard boxes and we will distribute to the Second Harvest Food Bank Of Lorain County and the Oberlin Community Center.
